Daily Madden: The Beauty Of A Good Snap

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Brian Jennings is the longest tenured player on the San Francisco 49ers. A lot of that has to do with the position he plays -- long snapper.

"Every coach teaches his son to be a snapper," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "Because if you want to play football and you want to play it a long time at different levels, but you're not one of the best players and you're not a superstar, you learn to snap. And if you learn to snap and you become a good snapper, you will always have a job. There will always be a place for you on the roster."

Jennings joined the 49ers in 2002.

"Jennings proves that," Madden said. "The last man standing. I mean he's been there longer than anyone else."

Madden said the position is crucial to any team's success.

"When those plays come up and you need a perfect snap, that guy is very, very, very important." (8:04)
