49ers Legend Jerry Rice Sues Over Failed Sale Of $11M Mansion
ATHERTON (TMZ) -- Former San Francisco 49ers legend Jerry Rice has filed a lawsuit over the failed sale of his $11 million Bay Area mansion.
According to court documents obtained by the celebrity news website TMZ, Rice claimed he was all set to unload his massive home in Atherton (which Forbes ranked as the 2nd most expensive ZIP code in the U.S.), when the buyers apparently decided to pull out of the deal at the last minute.
Rice's home is complete with 6-bedrooms, 11 baths, a gym and a movie theater. According to the documents, Rice was also willing to throw in some additional possessions of his own to sweeten the $11 million deal -- including a treadmill, a pilates machines, and two animal print chairs among other items.
According to the court documents, the buyers signed a contract in which they agreed to close on the house by July 15, 2011, or else forfeit a $330,000 deposit.
But Rice claimed the buyers couldn't seal the deal by the deadline and now he is suing so he can keep the money without having to sell them the house.
Attempts to reach the buyers for comment were unsuccessful.
