SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— For an in-depth understanding of what Persian food and culture is all about, KCBS Food and Wine Editor Narsai David highly recommends, "'Food of Life: Ancient Persian and Modern Iranian Cooking and Ceremonies'.

David said it's a "beautiful and magnificently produced" cookbook that is now in its 25th anniversary edition.

KCBS' Food and Wine Editor Reports:

Author Najimieh Batmanglij has been called the "guru of Persian Cooking".

"It's expanded, it's updated, it's a totally new design," David reviewed.

He said the book includes plenty of colorful photographs and is organized in a logical way.

Soups and porridges are categorized together, but David said it's the section called stories, that includes traditional folk tales that he really loves.

"The book has recipes galore and enough pictures to guide you along the way," David said.
