San Jose Shooting Victim Found Driving Stolen Car Had Felony Warrant

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A man found shot in San Jose on Saturday night was driving a stolen vehicle and had an outstanding felony warrant, police said.

Police responded to reports of a shooting shortly before 8 p.m. near the corner of Monterey Road and Skyway Drive.

Officers found the 34-year-old San Jose resident suffering from a gunshot wound to the face there, and he was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

KCBS' Betsy Gebhart Reports:

Investigators determined that the victim was driving a reported stolen vehicle. While stopped on Monterey Road, a second vehicle stopped to the left of the victim's vehicle.

Occupants of the second vehicle shot at the victim while he was in the car, police said.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was a parolee-at-large and had a felony parole violation for his arrest.

The suspects fled south on Monterey Road and remain at large, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting has been asked to contact San Jose police at (408) 277-4161.
