SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – The Oakland Raiders were at the top of their division going into Sunday’s game, but they were no match for the undefeated Green Bay Packers, losing 46-16 Sunday.

“You see how wide the gap is between where you are and where you have to go,” John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. “I don’t think there’s anyone that expected the Raiders to go into Lambeau Field and beat the Green Bay Packers, but you expected a little better showing. It could be a test to see okay, ‘they’re the best. we’re not. But how close are we to them?’ At times it looked like a pretty big gap.”

Madden said the 49ers’ defeat at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals Sunday was not a big surprise.

“Lately (the Cardinals) started playing well, they started playing aggressive on defense, they started getting some things on offense. (Arizona’s) Larry Fitzgerald is as good a wide receiver as there is in the game,” said the former coach.

In Denver, Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow stunned the Chicago Bears with yet another comeback victory Sunday. The clock appeared to be working against Denver in the fourth quarter.

“You’re thinking watching that that you know this is going to be the end of the Tebow stuff,” Madden said. But Denver pulled out the win in overtime, 13-10.

“The thing about (Tebow) is he doesn’t start off very strong, but he wears you down… He’s running as fast and as hard and playing as fast and as hard at the end of the game as he is at the beginning. I really do feel that defenses get more tired playing against Tebow than they do a normal offense,” Madden said. (8:55)
