Authorities Raid Newark Pot Club, Danville Home

NEWARK (CBS SF) -- One woman is in custody after local and state law enforcement raided a marijuana dispensary in Newark and a related home in Danville Wednesday afternoon, a state Department of Justice spokeswoman said.

The Happy Wellness Center, located at 7200 Jarvis Avenue in Newark, and the house, located in the 100 block of Victoria Place in Danville, were both raided at around 3 p.m., spokeswoman Michelle Gregory said.

SWAT teams searched the Danville home, which Gregory said belongs to the owners of the dispensary.

Three men, believed to be the owners of the Newark dispensary, are still at large, Gregory said.

Keila Santos Gonzalez, 28, the manager of the dispensary, was at the home and was taken into custody, Gregory said.

One of the three men being sought by law enforcement was apparently at the house shortly before the raid occurred and fled when officers arrived, Gregory said.

Gregory said firearms are registered to the home's residents, including one who is a convicted felon.

A police staging area was set up at Maison Drive and Old Blackhawk Road, near Victoria Place.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported during the activity, according to Danville police Sgt. Jason Haynes.

While police searched the home, Southern Alameda County Major Crimes Task Force agents raided the Newark dispensary.

Gregory said the dispensary is not set up for patient care but rather to make a large profit.

"It's not about patients' needs, it's clearly about making money and selling drugs," Gregory said.

The suspects are facing charges of sales of marijuana, possession for sales of marijuana and conspiracy, according to Gregory.
