Teen Carjacked Outside Novato Movie Theater

NOVATO (CBS SF) - Two men carjacked an SUV outside the Century Rowland Plaza movie theater in Novato on Sunday night, a police sergeant said.

The 19-year-old victim, an employee of the theater at 44 Rowland Way, said he was leaving work around 10:25 p.m. when a van pulled in front of his parking space and blocked in his green 1992 Ford Explorer, Sgt. Jennifer Dunlap said.

A man got out of the van, demanded the keys and then drove away in the Explorer, Dunlap said.

The van, driven by another man, and the Explorer were last seen heading west on the Rowland Boulevard overpass, Dunlap said.

The carjacker did not show a weapon and the theater employee was not injured, Dunlap said.

The carjacker is described as a white, heavyset man in his early 40s with slicked-back brown hair and large sideburns.

He was wearing a white dress shirt, blue jeans and "saddle-style shoes," Dunlap said.

The suspects' vehicle is described as a white Ford Econoline-style van with bars on the inside and rear windows.
