Kinney Lifts San Jose State Past UC Davis

SAN JOSE (CBS / AP) -- James Kinney scored 19 of his 24 points in the first half and San Jose State ended a three-game losing streak with a 79-59 victory over UC Davis on Tuesday night.

Keith Shamburger added 13 points for the Spartans (4-7), who will embark on a season-long six-game road trip. D.J. Brown, Wil Carter and Chris Jones each had 11 points.

Tyler Les scored a career-high 24 points to lead UC Davis (1-10), which lost its seventh straight and is still looking for its first win over a Division I program.

Les, who briefly left the game with a cut over his right eye, made his first six 3-pointers before missing midway through the second half. He tied a school record with eight 3-pointers, making 8 of 9 overall.

Kinney made all six of his first-half shots, including four 3-pointers, as San Jose State took a 41-26 lead into intermission.
