Man Struck On Head, Robbed In San Francisco's SoMa Neighborhood

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A man was struck in the head and robbed in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood on Thursday evening, police said Friday.

The robbery was reported at 6:15 p.m. in the first block of Seventh Street.

The 55-year-old victim was struck in the head with an unknown object by another man. He fell to the ground, where the suspect reached and grabbed his cash before fleeing, according to police.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for a head wound, an injury that is not considered life-threatening, police said.

The suspect, a man believed to be in his 40s, has not yet been found. Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
