Father Accidentally Runs Over, Kills Son In Antioch

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- The Alameda County coroner's bureau has identified a 2-year-old boy who was killed when he was run over by a car on Monday afternoon as Antioch resident Malcom Norris.

Antioch police Capt. Leonard Orman said the boy's father, whose name he declined to release, was driving a car on Pembroke Court around 1:20 p.m. Monday when he left a driveway and accidentally struck Norris.

Police said that after being hit by the car, the toddler fell and was run over by the vehicle, suffering life-threatening injuries.

Norris was transported to Children's Hospital in Oakland where he was pronounced dead.

While police continue to investigate the incident, Orman said, "Everything's pointing to the fact that this is just a horrible accident."
