San Mateo High Rise Fire Damage Estimated At $100,000

SAN MATEO (CBS SF) -- Fire crews responded to a three-alarm blaze at an office building in San Mateo Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported at around 4 p.m. at 400 South El Camino
Real.

Some 50 people fled the 14-story building and responding firefighters found heavy smoke on the building's 11th floor, fire officials said.

No one was injured in the blaze.

The smoke and heat triggered a sprinkler system and several floors
sustained significant water damage, fire officials said.

The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage and the cause of
the fire is under investigation.
