OAKLAND (CBS SF) – Police have tracked down the parent/guardian of a 6 year-old boy police who apparently was left alone in an East Oakland parking lot in the wee hours of the morning Saturday.

A passerby spotted the boy in the Chase Bank parking lot at the intersection of International Boulevard and Durant Avenue at about 3:30 a.m. and called police.

Police arrived and decided to place the boy in the custody of Child Protective Services.

No word yet as to why the boy was outside alone, or how long he will remain under the care of Child Protective Services.
