Manhunt For Escaped Inmate From Santa Rita Jail In Dublin Ends With Capture

DUBLIN (CBS 5) -- A seven-hour search came to an end Monday night when Alameda County sheriff's deputies detained an inmate who had escaped from the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin Monday afternoon, a sheriff's dispatcher said.

Jose Luis Franco, 57, was found riding a bike in Dublin at around 9:30 p.m. and was taken back to jail without incident, the dispatcher said.

"He ran but he got caught," the dispatcher said.

Franco was returning from court Monday afternoon when he "somehow was able to breach the wall of the jail," sheriff's spokesman Sgt. J.D. Nelson said earlier Monday.

Franco, who was in jail for burglary charges out of Oakland, was reported missing at around 2 p.m.
