Drunk Driver Leaves Trail Of Destruction In Richmond

RICHMOND (CBS SF) - A woman driving drunk slammed into five parked cars in a Richmond neighborhood early Monday morning, spinning them into the street and leaving a trail of debris in her wake, police said.

At around 12:30 a.m., police responded to multiple 911 calls from residents of the 2300 block of Miracopa Avenue reporting that a woman in her 30s had crashed into several parked cars and was pinned inside her vehicle.

Officers responding to the scene followed the trail of debris along Miracopa Avenue to find the woman, who was still inside her car.

Some cars had been hit so forcefully, they spun from the curb into the middle of the street, police said. Police estimated the woman was traveling at least 40 mph.

Police contacted firefighters and medical personnel to respond to the scene and remove the woman from her car.

She was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries, and appeared to be very drunk, police said.

Residents later told police that they had heard multiple collisions from their homes and car alarms going off.

Police said that one resident of the neighborhood left her house and stopped the woman from driving further than she did. If she had continued driving, she may have hit more cars than she did, police said.
