90-Year-Old Driver Hits, Kills San Rafael Pedestrian

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- A man crossing the street in San Rafael on Saturday night was struck and killed by a 90-year-old driver, police said.

The pedestrian, a 49-year-old San Rafael resident, was crossing Second Street at G Street when he was hit by a Saab traveling eastbound on Second Street about 9:35 p.m., according to the San Rafael Police Department.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Saab, a San Rafael woman, had been returning home from a visit with family, police said.

She was not injured in the collision.

There was no indication that alcohol was a factor, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.
