Oakland’s Allen Temple Church Cleans Up International Blvd.

OAKLAND (KCBS)— Members of an East Oakland church took to the streets Monday to take part in a clean-up effort dubbed, CRIBB Day, Community Revival of International Boulevard’s Beauty.

Allen Temple Baptist Church at 8501 International Blvd, held the event to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

Last year they picked up several hundred pounds of garbage along the boulevard. Reverend Daniel Buford, director of prophetic justice ministry, said it really needs the cleanup.

KCBS’ Bob Melrose Reports:

He was thankful for diverse group who came out from all over the city to help beautify the community, especially on a holiday where they could have been doing other things.
