Man Near Antioch School Points Gun At Parent

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) – Antioch police responded to Deer Valley High School Wednesday afternoon after a man reportedly aimed a gun at a parent near the school, police said.

The man allegedly aimed a gun at the parent and made verbal threats near the school, located at 4700 Lone Tree Way, according to police.

The parent reported the incident to a school employee who alerted police.

Officers responded at around 1:45 p.m. and detained Antioch residents Jashowndre Upshaw, 20, and Myrick Rucker, 19, by a nearby Taco Bell restaurant, police said.

Upshaw was booked into Martinez Detention Facility and Rucker was released pending further investigation, police said.

Officers recovered two loaded handguns from a vehicle near the area where the men were contacted, police said.

Police said none of the parties involved were students and no students were injured or threatened.

In 30 years of teaching I only heard of two gun incidents, and they were only pellet guns! (In a Norteno/Sureno neighborhood!)

Wasn’t there a student shot (with real gun) outside of Deer Valley High about 3 years ago by a non student, but both were involved in gangs?

Myrick Rucker and his “family” moved into the Knoll Park neighborhood back in 2005 or so. Myrick stole my son’s bike and when I went to their house to speak with the parents (mother, no father, and a toothless drunk grandfather), the mother actually told me that she thought it was OK for her son to “borrow” my son’s bike, as long as he returned it to where he found it later. I could not believe what she was saying. Myrick also had no respect for adults back then. Poor parenting, look ar what it brings. Mom, you must be proud of your son now. The guy belongs in prison. Hopefully the APD investigation finds him culpable and gets him behind bars soon
