Photographer Hurt At Santa Clara Valley Medical Center Construction Site

SAN JOSE (KCBS) - A photographer snapping pictures for engineering company at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center wound up admitted to the hospital's emergency room Thursday after she suffered a fall while working at a new wing under construction.

The photographer somehow lost her footing on the top floor of a 2-story building and fell down into a gap with an adjacent building, according to fire officials.

"The distance was somewhere between 12 feet and 15 feet," said Capt. Mary Gutierrez, spokeswoman for the San Jose Fire Department.

The victim was conscious and alert when firefighters arrived. Gutierrez said the rescue involved loading her on a stretcher that had to be fed through a window.

The photographer arrived at the emergency room in stable condition

Cal-OSHA is investigating the accident.
