San Francisco Police Arrest 70 In Major Warrant Sweep
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – San Francisco police swept through the city Wednesday, making 70 arrests on outstanding warrants as part of the department's effort to reduce violence.
"Forty-six of those arrests were for felonies, 20 some odd were for misdemeanors, some of the warrants that were collected included a woman that had a warrant for attempted murder, another suspect was wanted for aggravated assault, another for robbery," San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr said.
Suhr said that the sweep involved officers from all ten of the city's district stations, along with the department's violence response team and help from the Sheriff's Department.

Most of the suspects were captured in the Tenderloin neighborhood, but arrests were made across the city.
Suhr adds that regular residents also play an important role in helping police track suspects with warrants.
"We get a lot of help from the community, but I'll tell you what - our officers do a tremendous amount of work day to day in the neighborhoods getting to know everybody," he said.
The San Francisco Police Department plans to conduct similar sweeps in an effort to keep people believed to be dangerous off the streets.
