Poor Napa Wine Harvest Could Affect Prices
NAPA VALLEY (KCBS) – Wine from Napa and Sonoma may be a tad more expensive this year for oenophiles.
Wine broker Glenn Proctor with San Rafael-based Ciatti Company said the wine grape harvest was down just as most vintners had expected.
"The crop was down, I think relative to a normal year, but up higher than some people had thought," said Proctor. "We've had a very tight supply in the marketplace."
Because of that tight supply, Proctor said that the wines buyers are used to purchasing from Napa and Sonoma will likely come with a higher price tag this year

"When you look at Napa and Sonoma, we had some issues with weather and we also had some challenges with inclement weather or rain at harvest time," said Proctor.
In the overall yield, there were decreases on some of the major varietals ranging from 15-28 percent.
Proctor said that Napa and Sonoma were more severely affected than other parts of the state.
