Skull, Bones Unearthed At San Carlos Construction Site

SAN CARLOS (CBS SF) - A construction crew unearthed human remains Wednesday morning while installing new plumbing lines in San Carlos, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

The workers discovered what appeared to be a human skull in the 600 block of Prospect Street around 11 a.m., sheriff's officials said.

Construction was halted while sheriff's detectives and investigators from the San Mateo County coroner's office arrived and began an investigation.

More bones were found after coroner's officials arrived, according to the sheriff's office.

The bones were taken to be examined by a forensic anthropologist.

Authorities believe the remains may be part of a Native American burial site.
