Apple iPhone Ad Spotlights Santa Cruz Beaches As Winter Destination
SANTA CRUZ (KCBS) - A new Apple advertisement that features a shivering man in a snowy New England town asking his iPhone 4s for "the best way to Santa Cruz, California" made a big splash in Surf City.
The iPhone personal assistant program Siri guides the man and his partner to gas, food and everything they need during a cross-country road trip that ends on the beaches of Santa Cruz.
Of course, the beaches pictured aren't really in Santa Cruz, but no matter, said Mayor Don Lane, thrilled at the free national exposure and association with a hip brand.

"If our tourism promotion bureau had wanted to design an ad, they probably couldn't have done much better than this," he said, adding he would like Apple consider opening one if its stores in town.
