Clarendon Scores 27, Cal Women Defeat Oregon
EUGENE, Ore. (CBS / AP) -- Layshia Clarendon had 27 points to lead California to an 83-71 victory over Oregon on Thursday night.
Reshanda Gray had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Bears (19-7, 10-4 Pac-12), who are second in the conference standings behind No. 3-ranked Stanford.
Ariel Thomas and Jasmin Holliday scored 13 points each for Oregon (14-12, 6-8), which has won just once in the last 12 meetings with Cal.
Oregon stretched a first-half lead to 27-20 on Thomas' layup with 8:17 remaining, and the Ducks held on until Clarendon's jumper gave California a 37-35 advantage at the break.
Jordan Loera hit a 3-pointer to put Oregon up 50-44, but Cal came back to take a 54-53 lead on Talia Caldwell's tip-in with 11:30 left, and the Ducks never regained the lead.
