2 Teens Stabbed At San Jose Mall

SAN JOSE (KCBS) -- The motive remains a mystery in a weekend stabbing incident that left two teenagers with wounds that were initially described as life-threatening Saturday evening.

San Jose Police Spokesman Jose Garcia said they received a call around 7:30 p.m. of a person who had been stabbed while inside Eastridge Mall.

"When the officers arrived, they located that victim suffering from at least one stab wound," Garcia said. "And during their investigation, they also found a second male victim suffering from at least one stab wound."

Both victims were transported to a local hospital.

Police closed and evacuated the JC Penney and Macy's department stores in order to allow investigating officers to process the crime scene.

Garcia said that witnesses told investigators that three young men attacked the victims and fled the scene on foot. Police later revealed that one 15-year-old was arrested in connection with the stabbing, though the search continued for additional suspects.

Police were also still looking for a motive in the attack, which may have been gang-related.

"We don't know what led up to this altercation and confrontation so we ask that if anyone has information to please contact the San Jose Police Department," said Garcia.
