Protesters, Deputies Clash At Alameda County Foreclosure Auction

OAKLAND (CBS 5) - A foreclosure auction ended with Billy clubs and bloodshed on the steps of the Alameda County Courthouse Tuesday afternoon, according to protesters.

Five people were arrested in what was supposed to be a peaceful demonstration.  Sheriff's deputies completely surrounded the courthouse after protesters attempted to follow auctioneers inside the building, according to the protesters.

The activists claim that officers blocked their path, and violently shoved them away from the building. They began making arrests after one of the protesters threw something at officers.

Protesters, including a man who already had a broken arm, claimed that they were severely beaten.  Sheriffs began making arrests after someone threw an object at officers.

There was no initial word on what the protesters would be charged with.
