UC Berkeley Fire Prompts Evacuations

BERKELEY (KCBS) – A fire at UC Berkeley Thursday led to the evacuation of part of Etcheverry Hall on the north side of campus, university officials said.

UC Berkeley Police said at least one room, a computer lab, had been damaged by the fire, which was contained to the fifth floor.  Fire officials said half of the building was evacuated.

As of 11:15 a.m., there were no reports of injuries.

Etcheverry Hall houses the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research and the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
