Oakland Carjacking Leads To Highway Chase; 2 Arrested

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – California Highway Patrol officers detained two carjacking suspects after a chase through Oakland early Monday morning.

Oakland police responded to assist the CHP officers as they pursued the suspects on Interstate Highway 880 near East 27th Street shortly after 2 a.m.

The two suspects were driving a Toyota 4Runner suspected to have been stolen and ended up briefly driving the wrong way on the highway near 29th Avenue.

The suspects then left the car and CHP officers briefly chased them before apprehending one of the suspects.

Officers helped establish a perimeter in the area to search for the second suspect.

CHP officers found and detained the second suspect shortly after that, police said.
