Girl Walking To Kindergarten Hit By Car In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A five-year-old girl was struck and injured by a car Tuesday morning in San Francisco's Polk Gulch neighborhood, a fire dispatcher said.

The child was struck at about 8 a.m. near the corner of Frank Norris and Larkin streets, the dispatcher said.

The girl and her mother were on their way to kindergarten class at Redding Elementary School when she emerged from between two parked cars and was hit by a passing car, according to police.

CBS 5's Gil Diaz Reports:

She was taken to the SF General Hospital with a possible broken leg. The mother was not hurt.

The driver stopped and was being questioned by police.
