Oakland School Locked Down After Gunshots Heard

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- An Oakland middle school briefly went into lockdown Thursday evening when gunshots were heard near the school, an Oakland police spokeswoman said.

The shots were heard around 5:30 p.m. near Frick Middle School, located at 2845 64th Ave., police officer Johnna Watson said.

School was out for the day, but some students were on campus for an after-school program and those students were brought into the cafeteria while police responded and checked out the neighborhood, Watson said.

Officers did not find any victims and didn't locate the shooter, Watson said.

The school lifted its lockdown shortly before 6 p.m., she said.
