Body Found On Seashore Identified As Missing Hayward Man

HAYWARD (CBS SF) – A man who was found dead on Sunday night at the Hayward Regional Seashore has been identified as 85-year-old Toshio Kato, according to the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau.

Kato, a Hayward resident with Alzheimer’s disease, had been previously reported missing.

A hiker at Hayward Regional Seashore discovered the body and reported it to police at 7:18 p.m. Sunday, Hayward police said.

East Bay Regional Park District police Lt. Jon King said that the body was found on a trail about a quarter-mile south of West Winton Avenue. Foul play is not suspected, King said.

Police from Hayward and the East Bay Regional Park District are investigating the cause of Kato’s death.
