Man Struck, Killed By San Francisco Muni Bus

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – A man was struck and killed by a San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency bus on Sunday morning near Alamo Square.

A Muni spokesman said the victim was transported to a hospital after being hit by a 21-Hayes bus around 11 a.m. Sunday morning.  Sgt. Daryl Fong with the San Francisco Police Department said the incident occurred near Hayes and Fillmore.

"Preliminary investigations indicates that the pedestrian had stepped out into traffic from between a couple vehicles and was struck by the Muni bus and pinned under the bus,"  said Fong.

Police said he was not carrying any identification at the time of the incident and is only described as a man in his 40's.

Muni officials said the bus driver has been placed on paid administrative leave while the incident is being investigated.
