Suspect Shoots BB Gun At San Jose Officers During Domestic Disturbance

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A San Jose man was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly shot at police with a BB gun.

About 10:50 a.m., officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 6100 block of Snowberry Court.

Family members had called 911 and reported that Cesare Lazzarino, 43, had been threatening to kill them.

Responding officers found Lazzarino in the driveway, police said.

The suspect allegedly drew a handgun from his pocket and fired at the officers, prompting them to run for cover near a truck, police said. One of the officers returned fire.

No one was hit in the exchange.

Two shots fired by the suspect hit the truck, damaging the windshield.

The suspect ran into the home and out the back, jumped a fence and fled, police said.

He was stopped about five blocks away and taken into custody without incident.

Officers determined that the gun Lazzarino had shot at police was a BB gun.

Both police officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave while an investigation is conducted.

Lazzarino was booked into jail for assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
