Jaywalking Pedestrian Fatally Hit By Passing Car In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a passing vehicle when jaywalking on Lombard Street in San Francisco on Sunday, police said.

The victim was identified by police as 45-year-old Thomas Ferguson of San Francisco.

The accident was reported at 8:44 p.m. Sunday on Lombard Street between Van Ness Avenue and Franklin Street.

Ferguson was apparently walking outside of the crosswalk when he was struck by a four-door Toyota traveling west on Lombard Street, police said. He was pinned underneath the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
