RICHMOND (CBS SF) – A suspect in a federal investigation is in critical condition after a federal agent shot him in the parking lot of a Chevy’s restaurant in Richmond this afternoon, according to a police lieutenant.

The suspect threatened the federal agent, prompting the agent to shoot him around 3:15 p.m. in the parking lot located at 3101 Garrity Way, Lt. Bisa French said.

The wounded male is one of three suspects who were under federal investigation in Richmond Wednesday, she said.

The federal agent fired at least one shot at the suspect, prompting another of the suspects to flee the area.

A third suspect was immediately taken into custody and officers quickly apprehended the suspect who fled, French said.

The wounded suspect was taken to a nearby hospital.

KCBS’ Chris Filippi Reports:

Police recovered a couple of the suspects’ firearms, she said.

French said she did not have suspect descriptions or names and does not know the nature of the investigation that caused federal agents to contact the males.

It is unclear how many employees or customers were inside the restaurant during the shooting, which has been shut down temporarily, according to Chevy’s regional director Matthew Baibzer.

“We are thankful that none of our employees were hurt or involved,” Baibzer said.

Police remained on the scene to investigate the shooting as of 4:20 p.m. No further information was immediately available.

Here come the riots again,,,yes, Sharpton, Lee, Jackson and company will make sure of that. Word of caution to the rioters: don’t bring it to my neighborhood; you will be met by a lot more than one shot.
