Tech Report: Apple Products Seen In Half Of U.S. Homes

(KCBS) – A new report shows that Apple products can be found in half of all homes in the United States.

KCBS Technology Analyst Larry Magid said that CNBC's "All-America Economic Survey" found that more than 55 million homes had at least one Apple product and one-in-10 that aren't currently in that group plan to have an Apple product in the next year.

In terms of demographics, the survey found that people with a higher annual income tended to have more Apple devices. 77 percent of those making more than $75,000 a year had at least one device. And those on the higher end of the income scale own an average of about three Apple products. That compares with those surveyed who make less than $30,000 a year, as only 28 percent own an Apple device.

KCBS Technology Analyst Larry Magid:

Magid said that much of the company's success can be credited to Steve Jobs, who made Apple much more of a consumer-friendly company.

The poll of 836 Americans was conducted by landline and cellphone from March 19-22 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percent.
