Veteran Actor Jonathan Pryce Brings Popular 'Caretaker' To SF's Curran Theater

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) - Two-time Tony Award-winning actor Jonathan Pryce has returned to San Francisco for the first time in two decades, to star in Harold Pinter's popular British play, The Caretaker.

Pryce said he first performed on The Caretaker twenty years ago playing the part of the younger character, Nick, "but I could no longer fit in his pants," he said. His latest effort takes on the role of the older homeless character, Davies.

"It is one of the best written characters for any stage actor," he said. The role of Davies in The Caretaker has been played previously by Michael Gambon and Patrick Stewart.

"I believe the audiences here are smart," said Pryce, "so I am excited to play here in San Francisco."

The Caretaker had a successful run in Australia and is now doing the theatre rounds in the U.S. For four weeks, now through April 22nd, The Caretaker will play at the SHN Curran Theater.
