Investigators Receive Nearly 1,000 Tips In Sierra LaMar Case

MORGAN HILL (KCBS) – Authorities investigating the disappearance of missing Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar continue to receive tips in connection with the case.

The tips, including possible sightings of LaMar, have come in by email and an anonymous tip line to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

"They are continuing to come in," said Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Jose Cardoza. "As each day goes on in this case, there are now close to a thousand tips."

KCBS' Margie Shafer Reports:

Cardoza said that 180 tips were offered this past weekend.

There is still no named person of interest in the case or a suspect vehicle. But Cardoza said investigators believe the person responsible for the disappearance is from Morgan Hill or has a connection to the city.

A core group of 40 investigators remain assigned to the case. Cardoza said that some have worked so hard, around the clock, they have been forced to take time off.

"The first thing they are saying, these detectives coming back after a day or two off, is have there been any new developments in the case," said Cardoza. "It's on everyone's mind constantly."

Investigators are still awaiting forensics tests on clothing and condoms found in the search area.

Sierra LaMar was last seen on the morning of March 16 leaving for school in Morgan Hill.
