Man Pistol-Whipped During SF Laurel Village Mugging

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A man was pistol-whipped and robbed by a group of suspects near San Francisco's Laurel Village Shopping Center on Wednesday night, police said.

The robbery was reported at 9:12 p.m. at Laurel and California streets.

The 34-year-old victim was approached by three suspects, all of whom pointed guns at him, according to police.

As the suspects demanded the victim's property, a fourth suspect came up behind him and struck him in the head with a gun, police said.

The victim fell to the ground and tossed his smartphone toward the suspects, and one of the suspects reached into the victim's pocket and stole his wallet, according to police.

The suspects then got into a silver four-door American-made car and drove away on Laurel Street toward Mayfair Drive, police said.

The suspects, described as men around 20 years old, had not been found as of Thursday morning, according to police.

The victim suffered a bump to his head but didn't want to be taken to a hospital, police said.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
