Santa Cruz Police Search For Suspect 2 Bank Robberies
SANTA CRUZ (CBS SF) -- Police are searching for a Santa Cruz County man who allegedly robbed a bank in Santa Cruz Friday evening and whom police believe may have also robbed a Capitola bank earlier this week, police said.
The robbery at a credit union in the 300 block of Front Street in Santa Cruz was reported around 5:10 p.m. Friday.
A man entered the bank and presented a note to a bank teller demanding cash, police said.
The teller complied, handing the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect fled, and officers who canvassed the area were unable to locate him.
Surveillance photos from the credit union and information from Capitola police, who are investigating a bank robbery that occurred earlier this week involving a similar suspect description, led police to identify Alex Wells, 25, as the suspect.
The Santa Cruz County man has not been located and police are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to call (831) 420-5820.
