Coast Guard Rescues Boaters After Cold Night Near Bodega Bay

BODEGA BAY (AP) -- The Coast Guard said two men and young boy are OK after they spent a cold night at sea on a disabled small boat.

Coast Guard spokesman Ensign Mark Leahey said the three were fishing in a 12-foot boat that lost power some time Saturday near Bodega Bay.

When the three did not return as expected on Saturday night, a family member called the Coast Guard, which launched a search shortly before midnight.

After a Coast Guard helicopter crew spotted the stranded boat Sunday morning, a Coast Guard motor lifeboat towed the boat back to Bodega Bay.

Leahey did not know the sea conditions overnight, but the National Weather Service said temperatures dipped into the 40s.

Leahey said all three were "a little cold and a little wet" but did not need any medical treatment.

Their names were not released.
