Teen Driver In Fatal Concord Crash Released From Custody
CONCORD (KCBS)— Concord police may take a few more weeks to complete their investigation into a deadly bicycle accident on Treat Boulevard that claimed the life of a father and his nine-year-old daughter on Saturday.
The 17-year-old boy, who was arrested for vehicular manslaughter when his Cadillac Escalade plowed into the family, was released from custody on Tuesday.
Deputy District Attorney Dan Cabral said the Concord boy can only be held for 48-hours and that the clock doesn’t run during the weekend.
KCBS’ Dave Padilla Reports:
Toxicology reports take time and investigators also are looking into cell phone records to see if the driver was distracted by talking or texting at the time of the accident.
Concord police Lt. Bill Roche said there’s a lot to be examined in this investigation and that it may be a few weeks before a case is presented to the DA’s office.
Lt. Roche said Treat Boulevard is one of several thoroughfares in the city they pay close attention to.
Solaiman Nuri, the father involved in the accident, was 41. His daughter’s name was Hadessa. Another daughter, 12, survived the accident with minor injuries.
According to a family friend, funeral services are set for Wednesday in both Antioch and Hayward.
