San Jose Woman Dies From Burns, Husband Accused Of Murder

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- San Jose police have arrested a man suspected of fatally burning his wife Monday night.

Police and fire personnel were conducting a welfare check around 11:45 p.m. Monday in the first block of South Second Street when they encountered Patricia Storey, 64, on the ground suffering from severe burns, police said.

Storey was taken to a hospital where she died on Tuesday, police said.

During their investigation homicide detectives determined that the woman's husband was a suspect, police said.

Police arrested Barton Williams, 49, in St. James Park on Wednesday, police said.

Williams, a transient, was booked on suspicion of murder and is in police custody.

The homicide is the city's ninth so far this year.
