Peninsula Woman Accused Of Setting Ex-Boyfriend's Bed On Fire

REDWOOD CITY (CBS SF) - An 18-year-old Redwood City woman was facing charges that she set her ex-boyfriend's bed on fire while he was sleeping.

Jacqueline Alexandra Rivera was arraigned on Wednesday on charges of attempted murder, arson and residential burglary. She asked for a court-appointed attorney, but did not enter a plea.

Prosecutors said the 21-year-old man awoke to his bed on fire on April 26 and screamed for his father, who put the flames out with a garden hose. He suffered minor burns on his arms and hands.

He and Rivera had apparently dated for several months. Prosecutors said Rivera told someone that the man had cheated on her.

She allegedly showed up at his house on the day of the incident to talk about their relationship.
