SAN MATEO COUNTY (CBS SF) — A motorcyclist died after going off the edge of remote, windy road near Memorial Park in the Loma Mar area of San Mateo County, according to the San Mateo County Fire Department.
Rescue teams arrived just after 12:20 p.m. to find the motorcyclist about 60 feet down the side of a cliff, said Battalion Chief Ari Belay. Because of the sheer drop and remote location, it took rescue teams hours to bring him up.
Belay said the road is one of the most remote locations in the county.
The man was alive when rescue teams reached him and was airlifted to Stanford Hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries, Belay said.
