Oakland City Council Approves New Bike Lanes
OAKLAND (KCBS) — Bicyclists in Oakland will soon have some more protection from motorists.
The City Council this week approved new bike lanes on a number of major streets. The new lanes will be on Broadway between 38th Street to Broadway Terrace, and on East 12th Street from 14th Avenue to Fruitvale Avenue.
Those roadways will go from the current six lanes to four in order to make room for the bike lanes.
MacArthur Boulevard will go from four lanes to two from Richards Road to Seminary Avenue to make way for those bike lanes.
The new lanes will reportedly be installed over the next year or so.
