Peninsula Woman Pleads Not Guilty To Torching Ex's Bed As He Slept

REDWOOD CITY (CBS/AP) - An 18-year-old Redwood City woman has pleaded not guilty to charges that she set her ex-boyfriend's bed on fire while he was sleeping.

Jacqueline Rivera entered the plea to charges of attempted murder, arson and burglary on Wednesday.

Prosecutors said the 21-year-old man awoke to his bed on fire on April 26 and screamed for his father, who put the flames out with a garden hose. He suffered minor burns on his arms and hands.

He and Rivera had apparently dated for several months, but Rivera was upset because she thought he had been unfaithful.

She allegedly showed up at his house on the day of the incident to talk about their relationship.
