Explosion In Vacaville Home Injures 2 People

VACAVILLE (CBS SF) -- Two people were injured in an explosion at a house in Vacaville Thursday afternoon, a city spokesman said.

Police and fire crews responded to a home in the 200 block of Juniper Street at 4:26 p.m. on reports of an explosion and evacuated neighboring homes, spokesman Mark Mazzaferro said.

Mazzaferro said two people were in the one-story house when an explosion occurred in the kitchen.

The occupants suffered minor injuries and transported themselves to the hospital for treatment, Mazzaferro said.

Emergency crews used air monitors to determine that there was no threat and the neighbors were allowed to return to their homes, Mazzaferro said.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.

Mazzaferro said no hazardous materials teams were dispatched and there was no fire at the home.

Juniper Street remains closed Thursday evening as emergency officials investigate.
