Bay Area Ice Cream Chain Offering 'World's Most Expensive Sundae'
PETALUMA (CBS 5) - A popular Bay Area ice cream chain is offering what it calls the "World's Most Expensive Sundae," but there have been no buyers yet for the $3,333.33 concoction.
In an interview for the SF Gate Inside Scoop column, the founder of Three Twins ice cream, Neal Gottlieb said the sundae was put on the menu more as a distraction for shoppers than a regular offering at his four local scoop shops.
The sundae - should it ever be ordered - would be made from organic bananas, three scoops of organic ice cream and three syrups made from rare desert wines, according to the article. Gottlieb said a cellist will also play while you eat. He conceded that buying the dessert would be "absurd."
Three Twins was created in San Rafael, but is now produced in a Petaluma factory.
