Sunnyvale Ranked 7th Best City To Raise Kids

SUNNYVALE (KCBS)— Being the seventh best city in the country to raise a family just isn't good enough for Sunnyvale's mayor who says his city can do even better.

The city in the South Bay was named by Kiplinger's Personal Finance as one of the 10 greatest cities to raise your kids, but while Mayor Tony Spitaleri welcomed the honor, he rhetorically asked what more his city could do, whether it is more senior services, youth programs or working to improve schools.

"It's constantly looking at how to keep moving forward," he said.

Mayor Spitaleri said one reason for the city's high ranking is because of its schools.

"We have great school systems. We have great parks. We have great services for our community and families. It's really a sincere effort of all our folks in City Hall. Our community asks, how we make it a family-oriented town without leaving anyone out," Spitaleri said.

KCBS' Mike Colgan Reports:

The city's past honors include being named the happiest place in America as well as the best place to date a nerd.
