Petaluma DUI Offender Arrested On New Drunk Driving, Hit & Run Charges
PETALUMA (CBS SF) – An alleged drunken driver was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash in Petaluma on Sunday evening, police said.
A motorist called Petaluma police around 5:50 p.m. Sunday to report being struck on Lakeville Street by another driver who then fled the scene, according to police.
The victim followed the driver out of the city while reporting the incident on a cellphone, police said.
Officers located the suspect, 37-year-old Petaluma resident Keith Michelucci, after he re-entered the city and drove south on Petaluma Boulevard past the Petaluma Police Department.
Michelucci admitted to being involved in the crash and failing to stop, according to police. Officers checked Michelucci’s records and learned he was on probation for a previous DUI offense, police said.
Officers gave him a preliminary sobriety test that showed he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.25 percent—more than three times the legal limit—according to police.
He was arrested and taken to Sonoma County Jail and is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
